JUNE 2025 – Works begin

The Rother Valley Railway is a registered charity which was set up to reinstate the western end of the original Kent & East Sussex Railway between Bodiam and Robertsbridge Junction stations. When the work is complete the modern day K&ESR will operate the train services, using its long experience and systems that are fully compliant in today’s world.

We are delighted to be a small part of this project by undertaking painting works at Robertsbridge Heritage Railway Station.

Painting Begins

A Charming Edwardian Rural Railway Station…

RVR’s Robertsbridge Junction Station is being built in the same style as Tenterden which was completed in 1903. The outcome will be a charming Edwardian rural station with a wooden canopy.

Battling with the Elements…

So on the day we were due to gloss all of the woodwork there was a slight issue with weather conditions!

With no roof, windows or doors in place, and an increase in wind we had to adapt to overcome the conditions and fight the elements.

We swept and vacuumed the working area, sealed up all the windows and doors and made a dust free work zone to decorate in.

Exterior Painting Begins

Into September and we begin work on the exterior of the station. Our focus is primarily on the main entrance and the station platform. It feels very nostalgic working on such a project. We love our job!
